Vegan and sustainable B&B room, just 200 metres from the beach

About

Stay just a few hundred meters from the beach on Texel. Our vegan B&B, Kahakai, is located on the edge of the woods of the 'Dunes of Texel' National Park, in a quiet part of De Koog. Ilona loves to bake homemade sourdough bread for our guests. Also the rest of the breakfast is home made and of course all vegan.

The space

Room The spacious room is fully equipped with every convenience: a king-size box-spring bed, a small refrigerator, a Nespresso machine, an electric kettle, and a safe. You also have your own large bathroom, featuring a double sink and a rain shower. Vegan Breakfast Our breakfast is the reason guests keep coming back. It includes homemade bread, muesli, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The breakfast is entirely vegan—but please don’t let that deter you if you aren’t vegan yourself! Parking You can park your car on our driveway, where it may remain free of charge for the duration of your stay. Elsewhere on Texel, you will need a ‘Texelvignet’ (parking permit) to park; this can be purchased online at: www.texelvignet.nl. Sustainability We believe it is important to treat nature and animals with care. In addition to our vegan breakfast, we make sustainable choices wherever possible. For instance, our coffee pods are biodegradable, we avoid single-use individual packaging for breakfast items and toiletries, our shower water is heated by a solar water heater, and our electricity is generated via solar panels. Furthermore, for every night booked, we donate 2 euros to the English organization ‘Belle and Fleur’ (part of Little Cage Fighters). Haidy rescues former battery-farm hens and provides them with a ‘forever home’—a life of freedom where they receive plenty of love, have space to forage, can flap their wings, take dust baths, and—whenever necessary—receive the best possible medical care.

The kitchen

Our kitchen is not shared with our guests. We bring a vegan breakfast in front of the door of the B&B room in the morning, which guests can take when they are ready and enjoy in the B&B room. There is a small fridge in the room and upon request we can bring plates and cutlery.
