We absolutely loved our time at SARA Sanctuary for a Spring Break trip at the end of March. Traveling with us were 2 adults and a 6 year old animal lover. The accommodations in the upstairs room were plenty comfortable for us! There was a refrigerator (with water and other treats inside), plus a filtered water cooler to fill your water bottles up every day. The AC/heat unit on the wall provided the cool we needed during the day and the warmth we needed for the chilly nights. Plenty of blankets and pillows to sleep comfortably. We used the in-room Keurig coffee maker every morning (coffee pods were provided). There is also a kitchen facility about 50 yards from the barn/room that is available for use including a microwave, refrigerator, sink, etc. The outdoor sitting area is perfect for sitting and enjoying the farm activity and observing the animals. Every animal is absolutely adorable and fun to interact with during your stay. The people are extremely friendly and willing to let you ask a million questions (like we did!). Certainly bring a pair of ear plugs if roosters crowing or a noisy baby pig sleeping downstairs will wake you up, but this is a living, working farm after all! You will not be disappointed in your trip here, it was truly incredible. We cannot wait to come back and visit again ASAP. Thanks to Tracy and her amazing colleagues for an unforgettable stay at SARA.

I am the Founder and Director of SARA Sanctuary, located on 128 acres in Central Texas. Our sanctuary has been around for almost 30 years and is home to about 700 animals of all kinds. We decided to open accommodations in our new 'barn-dominium' and invite visitors and volunteers to experience the magic of SARA and the beauty of our pigs, donkeys, horses, cattle, cats, dogs, and goats and to see diverse wildlife up close. We are on the migration path of many birds and the monarch butterfly. Stay with us for an unforgettable experience like no other! To respect the animals we protect, we ask our guests to eat only plant-based meals while staying with us.
My Lifestyle
The sanctuary and its animals are my life. It's been this way for the past three decades, bringing me an incredible sense of purpose and joy. Animals deserve happiness, freedom, and a life devoid of pain and suffering.

Bring your boots! This was such a fun, unique experience! We (2 adults and 3 kids) stayed in the barn bunkhouse and slept comfortably. The design/decor of the place was super charming- boho/rustic. I was surprised at how many snacks and drinks were provided. Aside from a few episodes of roosters crowing, I slept surprisingly well! It was a little warm but cooled off in the middle of the night. A small fan may be the answer to that issue. We especially loved playing with the big pig, Peanut, and the baby pig, Travis, but all of the animals are so special and great to be around. The people were very friendly and hospitable. I loved supporting a place with such a wonderful mission.
May 2022Stay was amazing! The host was very nice and helpful. It’s great how nice everyone there is, it makes you feel at home. The property is incredible and the animals are very sweet. I loved the goofy alpacas! The property was well ventilated w/ AC and the bed was very comfortable. The fridge was even stocked with some good drinks and there were also snacks. There is a balcony right out the front door that you can see an amazing sun set/rise from. Unfortunately I did not get to try to outdoor shower but I’m looking forward to it on my next stay here. There are also great places to eat that are not too far. I will be staying here again.
