Hi! I'm Amy, an American, and my partner Marty is Dutch. We both follow a vegan diet. For me it was after decades of vegetarianism, and for Marty it was after around 18 years of being 99% vegetarian at home and an omni outside. We've spent the last eight months making foodie trips abroad and researching restaurants and products in the Netherlands. It's been an exciting time for us, and we'd love to share our local knowledge with you! We're strictly vegan, but not judgemental with vegetarians, as that would be more than a bit hypocritical! We understand that people are in different places in that respect.

The apartment offered so much space and privacy. It was on the second floor (1e etage) of its own building behind their house. It had its own private entrance, and windows were positioned so that there were gorgeous views without feeling exposed. There was access to an exercise/laundry room on the ground floor. Amy left a plethora of yummy goodies for breakfast and snacks, and Marty dropped off fresh bread on our door step. There were also cooking essentials including spices, condiments and olive oil if we wanted to cook ourselves. Amy went out of her way to offer suggestions and advice on things to do and restaurants to try. Location was also great to visit nearby historical villages (on bikes they loaned us) as well as nearby cities. Amsterdam is just 12 minutes away.

This was our third stay with Amy and Marty. As always, they were wonderful hosts and did everything possible to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We encountered a medical emergency that required hospitalization, and they were kind and accommodating when this required an extension of our stay. They proved once again to be good friends as well as great hosts.

This is my second visit to Amy's place and Naarden, and this time the whole month whizzed by so fast that I am already looking forward to next year. This place is so special that I would be inclined to gate keep it, but I'm aware that would not be fair :). Both Amy and Marty's attentiveness, care and friendship has made my yearly visits a true joy. The loft is beautiful, not only does it have everything you would need in abundance, but looking out the windows, you feel like you live inside a painting. The area is beyond beautiful. Nearby Naarden is very walkable, with good choice of cafés and restaurants, but what will make me come back each year is the valuable friendship I have with Amy and Marty, which makes me feel right at home in this gorgeous loft. Until next year, unless you come visit me first as promised!
