A native French speaker originally from Paris, I lived 22 years in New York and worked in the wine industry before moving back to France in December 2020. I yearned for nature and quiet and fell in love with the Charente area. I currently live with my companion cats, Sangpo and Sigrid, in a hamlet of 4 houses, 13 cats, 3 hens and 2 goats.
My Lifestyle
Right now it's all about trying to keep up with the garden and the house! I also work part time for a wine company. So it's very low key and my rubber boots and gloves are never far.
Fun Facts About Me
1/ I skydived once, hoping to get rid of my fear of heights - didn't work. 2/ After getting my driver's license, it took me 26 years to actually drive.
Hobbies & Interests
I enjoy cooking, have an interest in Buddhism and my dream is to adopt two donkeys - or sheep!

Getting around the area
We are 20 minutes away from the lakes of Haute Charente and the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park, which offers many possibilities for walking/hiking. La Rochefoucauld is 15mn away, with its castle. A little further away (45mn), Angoulême and Brantôme, nicknamed the Venice of the Perigord. This is an area for people who want a quiet place, a walk in nature, a few charming villages and gardens to go to, maybe a creative workshop if one happens while you are here, and a day trip to charming little towns. We are in the middle of the countryside, car is a must.

Note: this listing is only available to guests booking the ground floor bedroom, listed here: https://www.vegvisits.com/rooms/vegan-b&b-in-the-charente-limousine--rural-france---bedroom-1--gf-44982. Due to the compact floor plan and lack of sound proofing, we only rent to one party at a time (1 to 3 bedrooms).
The space
This second bedroom is located upstairs. It is a normal size bedroom, fitted with a single bed (190 x 80cm). Please note that as it is in the attic, it gets fairly hot during the summer. In case of extreme heat outside, a fan is available, making sleeping comfortable unless you are used to sleeping in cool rooms only. If you have a larger group, there is a third single bedroom available, also upstairs, please inquire directly. The three bedrooms share one bathroom upstairs (shower, no usable tub, toilets). There are other toilets on the ground floor. You are welcome to enjoy the garden - one side is kept fairly tidy to sunbathe, read (feel free to browse the bookshelves) or relax, another part is currently left semi wild, and rubber boots or protective shoes are needed there.
The kitchen
Breakfast is included. Dinner is available upon request - you need to book in advance.
Other things to note
- My cats Sangpo and Sigrid live on the property. - Parking is available in the large courtyard. - There is no Wifi at the moment. Using your phone as a hotspot with 4G works well, although some areas of the house have weak signal. - No TV either - but a great show outside:) - The surroundings are very quiet, save the few tractors that go by.

- Being mindful to my companion cats is a must - closing back the doors that are closed, respecting their personal space. - Shoes are left at the door, please plan for slippers that are easy to put on/take off. - We try our best to respect Mother nature (and the bacterias in the septic tank!) : no chemical products (including antibacterial soap, phthalates, etc...) are to go in the sink / shower / toilets and ocean friendly sunscreen only. - We are mindful of our water usage, please be as well. - Everything is either composted or put to recycling, we keep our waste minimal and encourage guests to do the same (low/no plastic, low/no packaging, etc).
