Hey, I’m Tricia!

Vegan · Puerto Morelos Quintana Roo Mexico · Joined in January 2022

Tricia and Rick are experienced hosts. (Superhosts on other platforms). Tricia is a plant based nutritionist working with women's health and cancer patients. Rick is a blissfully retired Coast Guard employee. We are a vegan/vegetarian household and this space is shared with Sully, our Maine Coon (feline) roommate. We look forward to hosting you!

My Lifestyle

Tricia was born eating a plant based diet and Rick has been vegetarian for 25 years. We are quiet, non smoking 51 year olds. We are foodies, travellers, beachgoers, and generally pretty active. We are happy to help new arrivals get settled into the area or provide a soft place to land if you are flying in or out of Cancun. We will also give your privacy :-) We make time for meditation and yoga, but we will often find a glass of wine or a craft beer in the evenings. Tricia works part time online, from her home office which means we have great wifi.

Fun Facts About Me

Tricia follows the Buddhist tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh (Plum Village.) She also hoards tea and art supplies. Tricia has a passion for all things fermentation and makes cultures for her yoghurts and cheeses. She is also an English tutor in Mexico. Her previous work life includes Disaster Response and Emergency Management with a veterinary specialty. She is very good in a crisis.... Rick retired early from the Canadian Coast Guard, can repair just about anything and is also a Red Seal Chef. Now, he gives cycling tours of the area. He is a skilled hanger of hamocks and is currently taking Spanish lessons.

  • Wonderful house and great host! The room and 'casa' were exactly as described, and I was thoroughly impressed with everything. Tricia met me at arrival, had a great "local tips" list prepared for me, and thought of absolutely everything (including fresh fruit and water for me....I arrived famished!). It was a treat to stay in a space that was part of the 'real' town, and the neighborhood was both clean and safe (as proclaimed), the free use of a cruiser bike to go exploring was a really nice perk too, I loved the local fruit market that was right up the street (the fresh squeezed juice was so good and only 40 pesos/$2 a jug). My private bathroom was spotlessly clean and well appointed, the bed, pillows and linen appeared brand new. I am a cat lover so meeting the shy but sweet senior house cat Mr. Sully was wonderful to. I will definitely return, and wish I had time to stay longer this trip. My highlight was taking Tricia's advice and jumping on the local "colectivo" bus for a tour of the town. This was a great way to both get to the beach and to see some of the vibrant, fun REAL Mexico. Puerto Morelos is a very cute little town, and well worth exploring the Colonia side as well as the beachside. Wifi was fast and the private deck attached to my room a great place to start the day. One thing I would have done was contact Tricia in advance to ask about airport transfer, she had some great time and money saving tips for that as well. Thanks so much for all the great travel tips Tricia and I will look forward to the next visit.

  • Tricia's place was lovely and peaceful, the perfect spot to land and settle in. She was completely accommodating and went above and beyond to offer me conveniences such as food, information, and even change for the bus. So nice to connect with vegan people like her! I'd most definitely stay with her again! = )
