I, Linda, live on the countryside of Coevorden with my friend Paul. We like to work outside, on our property. Creativity and freedom are very important to us. From 2015 to 2019 we made the little palace 'Vegawagen Psyche', named after the fairytale Psyche from the Dutch writer Louis Couperus. I am highly sensitive, living a plant-based lifestyle since 1990. In 2010 Paul and I moved from Gouda to this place for the peace and quiet. We like letting others enjoy this spacious spot. Naturally, we love animals very much. So much, that we don't keep them. Nevertheless, you will regularly encounter animals here: a deer, hare, owl, birds, butterflies. I love being alone, doing my own thing, outdoors as much as possible. I have broad interests: crazy about vintage, 'my' 70s and 80s music, crafting, puzzles, cycling, making things beautiful, and spiritual matters. After almost 7 years, I discovered VegVisits and look forward to hosting more like-minded guests, like you :). You are very welcome!

Since 1990 I am vegan. It feels like it was/is the purpose of my life to give a voice to the ones that have no voice, the animals.

Getting around the area
Our location is special to us because we have no direct neighbours. Sometimes we do have animal neighbours, like a deer or squirrel or owl, even on our property. This rural area of ​​Coevorden has a history of peat excavation and turf extraction. Entire families worked extremely hard under difficult conditions. If you go for a walk or bike ride in the vicinity, you will come across information boards featuring old photographs. One of the last remaining raised bog nature reserves is located opposite the property. You can go for a walk in the nearby Dalerpeelse Forest. For larger forests, you will need to drive a little further. Coevorden is an old fortified town, 7 km away. There you will find the only castle in Drenthe. There is much to do and experience in the wider area. I can give you some tips for restaurants that serve vegan food. Information is available in the accommodation, and Coevorden has a Tourist InfoPoint. Germany is nearby, as is Overijssel.

A closer look at the stay
About
Vegawagen Psyche is a nostalgic, royal vegan wagon where guests eat vegan or vegetarian (that is why I can't say the kitchen is only used for vegan food). Psyche is a princess from the fairytale of the Dutch writer Louis Couperus, for which the brother of my granddad, Bernard Reith, made the drawings, about a hundred years ago. Between 2015 and 2019 we built Psyche's little palace, a resting place for people who appreciate creativity and refinement and who are looking for something special. In addition to the wagon, the guests' private domain also includes about 1000 square meters of the garden and a bathroom wagon at 10 meters distance, with shower and toilet. Also there is a solar garden shower. Although this is a quiet place normally, there can be days with more agricultural traffic, which is part of rural life. The accommodation is at 70 meters distance from our home. Dalerpeel is the nearby small village. There is no shop. Coevorden town is at 7 km. There is a train station. And a castle! In and outside the wagon is everything you need to have a good time. A kitchen also. There are touring bikes for rent (non-electric). If you miss anything, just tell! It is possible that a third (or fourth) person stays in de bathroom wagon at an additional cost. Or in a tent on the grass. Send me a message if you want more information!
The space
The wagon measures 7 meters x 2,50 meters. The balcony adds 1,20 to the length. The bed is 140 x 200. Bedding, towels and kitchen cloth are included. There is wi-fi and wired internet. No tv, radion yes. Two electric hotplates and an oven. Toaster, water boiler, coffee maker, tea and coffee. In the summer a ventilator and in the winter heating and an electric blanket in the bed.

Other things to note
We have no domestic animals on our property. Only wild anmimals, especially birds. Parking is free. Although most of the time this is a quiet place where sometimes you can even hear a pin drop, on certain days there can be more agricultural traffic (for example harvesting in the autumn). Also it is possible to hear noises from a party once or twice a year, like anywhere.

We expect our guests to not be too noisy. Sure you can have fun in the garden. Smoking is allowed only outside. If you want to stay longer than one week, please contact us.
