I am a retired teacher, a keen cook, vegan for 8 years, a volunteer at our local animal sanctuary who moved to Scotland two years ago, taking over an old farmhouse and outbuildings. I share my house with my husband and our tribe of rescued animals - cats, hens and a wee dog called Alfie.
My Lifestyle
We want to offer people a little vegan haven, and perhaps to show the vegan curious what vegan food is all about. We try to tread softly on this earth and our lifestyle is as eco as we can make it - electric cars, solar panels and battery and minimal plastic use.
Hobbies & Interests
An ex-English teacher, I love reading and you will find a bookshelf in the Neuk o'the Mill - feel free to borrow whatever takes your fancy!
Companion Animals
Alfie the dog; Pushkin, Millie, Serafina, Monty, Frodo, Rosie, Casper, Lulu the cats; Babs , Mabel, Ivy, Hermia, Helena, Clemme, Prim, Pearl the chickens and Demetrius the cockerel

Getting around the area
Situated in South Lanarkshire at the edge of the Borders, Biggar is a lovely spot as a base for walking, perhaps up the nearby Tinto Hill, or mountain biking at Glentress. Edinburgh and Glasgow are both approximately a convenient 30 miles away. Ananda Sanctuary is just 5 minutes away and they often have weekend Meet and Greet sessions.

About This Space
A closer look at the stay
About
Our stone cottage is a converted barn attached to the old farm house, and set in a courtyard and garden where our rescued hens and cats wander freely. Full of character and original features, it is a little haven and a good base for exploring the area. We offer an inclusive vegan breakfast and dinner as an extra by arrangement.
The space
The cottage has its own front door, and the bedroom has a king-sized bed. The well-equiped kitchen diner is bright and airy and the living room has plenty of seating, a sofa bed for children and a Smart TV. Outside, there is a seating area where you can interact with the chickens.
The kitchen
The kitchen has a large fridge freezer, a dining table that seats four, a microwave and usual appliances.
Other things to note
Several cats and chickens regard this as their home and are often in the courtyard so careful driving is appreciated
