The space
The house was constructed using traditional log home-building techniques which, aside from being charming and regionally-appropriate, performs well in extreme temperatures. Just open the windows and cross-ventilation, combined with ceiling fans, will keep the house comfortable most days throughout the year. However, central air conditioning and central heating is available when you need it.
The house is furnished with an eclectic mix of contemporary and modern pieces from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Joybird, AllModern, CB2, and West Elm as well as unique vintage and mid-century modern pieces, some of which have been newly refinished or refurbished. All bedroom closets have shelving by Elfa.
There are a total of three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, plus a queen-size Joybird convertible sofa in the loft.
The master bedroom upstairs is very spacious and features vaulted ceilings, an en suite bathroom, a king bed and a desk for computer work along with ample floor space for doing yoga. It also includes the only other television in the house which is a Sony 50” 4K HDR Smart TV connected to an Apple TV featuring Netflix, Showtime, Amazon Prime, etc.
The larger bedroom downstairs has a king bed as well, while the smallest bedroom features a queen bed. Both of the downstairs bedrooms are located adjacent to the downstairs bathroom.
The pull-out sofa in the loft can sleep up to two people on the queen size mattress.
The porch wraps three sides of the house and offers ample opportunities to take in the views while conversing with friends and family, or while simply doing nothing and just relaxing. The porch is covered on two of the three sides so you can cook on the grill in total comfort while enjoying a beverage or two even if the weather turns inclement.
The kitchen
The kitchen features an oversized granite island w/ built-in oven, range and microwave so that whoever is cooking can easily socialize with the rest of the party. It also houses a huge assortment of almost everything you might want or need to cook a large meal for your guests. If there's anything specific you might need, feel free to reach out and we'll confirm that we have it or can provide it for you.
Other things to note
The house does have wi-fi, however it's satellite internet which is not very fast, but it's the only option in these mountains. We have two TVs in the house, one in the living room and another in the master bedroom. The internet connection may not support streaming to more than one TV at a time without occasional buffering. Satellite internet works best with clear skies. Clouds and inclement weather will slow the connection.
We've found that for cellular service, Verizon works best at the house. AT&T works too, but not nearly as well, and only from the view-side of the house, with the best reception on the deck. We have no personal experience with the other carriers. If you have Verizon Wireless, you'll probably experience faster speeds by tethering to your mobile device than by using the house's wifi, assuming you leave your device near the view-side of the house.
While the house sits on 22 acres and this affords you privacy and seclusion, it will not, unfortunately, isolate you from loud noises from nearby properties which may include guns, fireworks and loud vehicles.
