Bleujennow Vegan B&B

United Kingdom · Joined September 2015

The house is Victorian, and feels like a comfortable family home. We are at the north end of the town with views over the town and harbour, and right next to an iron age fort! At the back, we have a new conservatory, which looks out to the pretty courtyard garden. In the Cornish language, Bleujennow means flowers, and came from visualising the upcycled crafts I make as beautiful flowers growing from discarded seeds! To mark the house, there is a wreath of flowers on the blue front door (made from upcycled carrier bags!). Stepping lightly on the earth is important to us, so as well as avoiding harm to animals by being vegan, we take the environment seriously, and most waste goes into our compost bins, up to Bleujennow Crafts to be upcycled, or recycled. We have solar panels on the roof, high energy performance ratings on all our machines, and reduce water use as much as possible. You are on holiday, so your comfort is our first priority, but we hope you will also be aware of reducing waste and energy! We also want to encourage you to come by public transport, so we provide free pick-up and drop-off to and from the train and bus stations. To help you travel light, we have available lots of things to borrow. Cot, highchairs, changing mat, baby bath, books, toys for babies and toddlers; beach towels, beach chairs, body boards, wet suits, buckets and spades for the beach; wellies and backpack for walks. In the house, we have slippers and bathrobes provided. Penzance is the perfect town for a break, with an array of pubs, cafes, galleries, sub tropical gardens, and the famous art deco Jubilee Pool. There are 3 main festivals: Golowan in June, culminating in the colourful Mazey and Quay Fair Days; in the winter, there is Montol, celebrating the winter solstice; the Penzance Literary Festival in July.

Getting around the area

From history, art galleries, music, theatre and festivals; to clifftop walks, swimming, yoga, shopping and boat trips; Penzance has a lot to offer! And with Bleujennow being so close to the train and bus stations, it's easy to get to other parts of Cornwall, for example The Eden Project. Getting around: There is great public transport both by bus and by train. The ferryport to the Isles of Scilly is in Penzance, and in the summer there is an open-top bus travelling around the area.

About

Bleujennow is a completely vegan bed and breakfast/self-catering space, so the best of both worlds! Situated in Penzance, a beautiful vibrant town, it is 10 minutes' walk from the town centre and the train and bus stations, and less than 15 minutes’ walk from the seafront. It's the perfect spot for exploring South West Cornwall and further afield. We offer a two-room-plus-bathroom space on the first floor. Only one family/couple can stay, so there will be no other guests when you are staying here. The bedroom has a double bed and a sea view, and the second room is a sitting /dining space with a mini kitchen. It is ideal for a couple who would like to be able to cook and eat rather than going out for meals. Ingredients will be supplied for breakfast. (see breakfast options document for details) and will be topped up when needed. No non-vegan foods are allowed in the house, so you can be sure your cooking equipment has only been used for vegan food. The house is smoke and pet-free. The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge, combination oven, hob, sink, kettle, toaster, smoothie maker, slow cooker, hand juicer, recipe books and plenty of pans and equipment. TVs are in both rooms and there is free Wifi. To help you travel light, we have available lots of things to borrow: highchair and other baby/child equipment, books and toys; beach towels, beach chairs, body boards, buckets and spades for the beach. There is a cot and two blow-up children's beds also available, and the sofa in the second room can be made into a very comfortable single bed if wished. The bathroom has a loo, bath, and shower. In the house, towels, slippers, bathrobes, and Faith in Nature products are provided. The house is Victorian and feels like a comfortable family home. We are at the north end of the town with views over the town and harbour, and right next to an iron age fort. Minimum 3-night stay. Penzance is the perfect town for a break, with an array of pubs, cafes, restaurants, galleries, shops, sub-tropical gardens, a beach, and the famous art deco Jubilee Pool. Many of these offer vegan choices and Redwings Café is completely vegan. In Penzance itself there are three main festivals: Golowan in June, culminating in the colourful Mazey and Quay Fair Days; the Penzance Literary Festival in July; in December is the Montol Festival celebrating the winter solstice. There are also several other festivals and celebrations close by. The area is rich in history, from stately homes and gardens to ancient sites. The coastline is outstandingly beautiful and ideal for walking, and there are many beaches, from tiny secluded coves to easily accessible seashores. Looking forward to welcoming you!
