The space
Hidden down a long track, this old farmhouse really is almost the middle of nowhere. Set in substantial grounds, there are good views from every window and a babbling brook runs right alongside it. The water comes from a nearby spring and the air is so clean you can see the Preseli Mountains 30 miles away.
You’ll enter via the porch where you can leave your coats and boots as well as meet the resident cat Chick Pea. You then come into a large and warm old farmhouse kitchen where the wood-fired Rayburn range cooker takes pride of place. There are slate worktops, exposed beams, quarry tiles with underfloor heating and all the facilities are discreet (dishwasher/microwave etc) so it’s just like walking into a period home. There’s even a NutriBullet so you can make great juices! At the other end of the kitchen is the dining area with a table for eight which is next to a beautiful fireplace. You’ll find all the crockery in the old dresser and the musically gifted can entertain you on the upright piano.
The next room is the lounge area - a cosy room with a wood-burning stove, a large sofa, vintage sofa bed, traditional games and a guitar. Then there’s a scullery which has a large fridge-freezer, Belfast sink, washing machine, a mangle and an ironing area. Behind that there’s a spacious downstairs toilet and wet-room which is suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Upstairs there are two generous double bedrooms with period details, one of them has yet another fireplace.
A third bedroom has a triple bunk (double with single above) and a dressing up box. The fourth bedroom is reserved for pirates - it is seaside themed and the bed is a ship!
In the bathroom there's a luxurious cast-iron freestanding bath which two can soak in and see the sunset. Throughout the house there are many old paintings of the surrounding area as well as vintage curiosities and a smiling Queen. Each room is painted in warm period colours using eco paints.
Towels and bedding are provided - as well as an initial basket of logs, extra baskets can be purchased cheaply.
There is five acres of grounds outside and spectacular walks are available from the door. In the meadow there’s a bonfire area and plenty of wood. On most days you can see the Milky Way.
In the outbuilding there’s a communal games room which includes a full sized pool table. The farmhouse has plenty of information on things to do in the area (sea, mountains, forests, lakes & castles!) but the best resource is the owner who will be happy to advise you on anything as he has lived in the area all his life.
This is a house notable for many reasons, it means Bramble Bush in English. You’re guaranteed to leave feeling healthy and with magical memories of your own.
Guest access: Exclusive use of house as well as five acres of garden, a dedicated hot tub and a games room with pool table.
