I am not great at talking about myself. But my daughter recently wrote something and if even half of it is true, I'm pretty awesome :) She would have a green tea. She's her own colour, she gives without receipts and has a laugh that makes you want to be funny. She knows that the kids' table is always cooler and that growth comes from all places but that god waters your pot. She's her own worst critic and always looks you in the eye, even when she doesn't. Determined and stubborn and stubbornly determined. She's wildly creative but never for approval of an audience. She feels the magic of music and will ask me to sing and strum for her as she does the dishes. And lastly – my favourite bit – she has dedicated her entire being to rescuing animals and inviting people to come put their feet up and get a slobbery, love-filled welcome by some fluffy inhabitants at her sanctuary.

My Lifestyle

I'm vegan. I run an animal sanctuary and a B&B. I also work full time outside the home. My hands are full. I wish I had more arms.

Fun Facts About Me

I love the smell of dogs' feet.

Hobbies & Interests

Animal rescue (duh!), reading (time permitting), Netflix (time-permitting)

Favorite Quote

If you're going to tell people the truth, make them laugh first. Otherwise, they'll kill you.

About This Space

A closer look at the stay

About

Nestled in the rolling hills and hardwood forests of rural Northumberland County, is a peaceful oasis, housing an animal sanctuary, where all life is treated equally. This is your place to escape to, disconnect from the world for a while and "just be". Tune in, tune out and let the surrounding landscape and its inhabitants work their magic. Wake up slow with gentle morning yoga and meditation. Enjoy a delicious, plant-based breakfast. Take a stroll through the forest in the company of a dog, a goat or a donkey. Experience a reiki session, indulge in some horse therapy or maybe just retreat to the library and curl up with a cuppa hot chai tea and a good book. Come refill your well in this relaxed and relaxing, historic farmhouse setting! We offer accommodations and host retreats for up to 10 people!
