Living simply and in harmony with all of life, following a wholistic path down every road, I am new to the state of Virginia and this house, which I just bought in the Fall of 2021. My background includes Herbology (31 years), Reflexology (since 2001), and previously owning a health food store in Vermont. I cherish beauty and the natural world, which you’ll find plenty of here.
My Lifestyle
I teach gentle/yin yoga and offer Reflexology in a new Yoga/Meditation/Wellness Center that opened in Hillsville (12 miles away) in May 2022. We also offer various One-Day Retreats and workshops. Most recently, Mindfulness practice has become a part of my world. I live simply and quietly, with the lightest footprint I can. I also offer Intuitive Readings and have done so for the past 17 years. They can bring clarity to any area of your life.
Fun Facts About Me
I grew up in The Bronx (in NYC) and love to sing! I learned to play guitar when I was 12 and still love those old folk songs... as well as sacred chanting. The name of the health food store/holistic center, which I previously co-owned, was called The Hundredth Monkey.
Hobbies & Interests
Walking the earth in beautiful places, especially woodlands that might have a stream running through; kayaking on lakes and gentle rivers; singing (folk songs/sacred chants... and even B’way classics!); learning to garden - and grow herbs & vegetables; hiking, sharing delicious, wholesome food, traveling to beautiful places and meeting people from other cultures. And always deep, spiritual interests.

Getting around the area
This is an incredibly scenic location. There are 20 homes in this little community and this house is on the end of the street. The last 1/3 mile here is gravel. On the Blue Ridge Parkway: Heading north about 20 miles is Mabry Mill - the most scenic spot along the entire Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 469 miles long. It’s a turn-of-the-century mill and has a historic cabin home from the 1860’s as well as other features. On the way there (about 8 miles north), you’ll see Puckett Cabin - on the left. There’s an interesting story associated with that cabin. About a mile past that cabin is Groundhog Mountain, which has a lovely picnic area. South on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a special spot - the Music Center. It has 2 trails and free Midday Mountain Music from 12-4, starting May 5th and lasting till the end of October. One other sweet, little trail is in Hillsville, about 10 miles away. It’s called the Beaver Creek Dam Trail and simply a lovely spot to get away from it all. It’s 3/4 mile trail with a stream meandering alongside. Take a break and just be in nature. Organic vegetables: www.crookedporchfarm.com. They’re in Hillsville (about 13 mi away) and have a Farm Store 7 days/week. Check out their website to see what’s available. Very sweet people, Hailey & Mike. The closest supermarket is in Hillsville - the Food Lion. They have organic bananas, organic avocados, and organic greens (in plastic bins). The closest health food store is in the conscious town of Floyd, VA - about 38 miles north, most of that drive is on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Harvest Moon Natural Market has been around for over 35 years. A sweet store with lots of bulk items, including a large bulk herb/spice section and bulk olive oil. Www.harvestmoonstore.com.

Peaceful spot near the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway!
The space
Greetings and welcome to southern Virginia. This lovely home is in a very quiet spot, with a ‘heavenly view’ of North Carolina below. The 'bedroom' that you'll be staying in is a spacious loft, up 13 stairs. It is very cozy and a lovely space. You’ll be sleeping on a futon bed. The skylight in the loft makes you feel like you're sleeping under the stars. It is a very peaceful spot, with the birds in the morning and the sound of ‘crickets’ at night. There is a long covered porch with a porch swing to enjoy the beauty and fresh air as well as the sunsets... and a sun room (with lots of windows on three sides) to enjoy the morning sunrise and evening sunset. The incredibly beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway is only 1/3 mile away. It is easily one of the most scenic roadways in America. People come from all over the world to drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, enjoying the mountain views and rolling hillsides, and the beauty of it all.
The kitchen
The kitchen has a full-size fridge, an electric stove/oven, plenty of counter space, and a butcher block island to do all your food prep. (There's also a microwave, which I never use - but it's here, if you want to use it.)
Other things to note
This is a very quiet, peaceful spot. There are no companion animals here; and you can park in the driveway. Since we’re on a mountain, cell phone reception can be very spotty. My cell can send/receive texts, but I needed to get a landline for phone calls, which you can use for calls made in the U.S. People can also call you here on the landline. I’m available if you have any questions..please don’t hesitate to ask. May your stay be comfortable and joyful.
