Getting around the area

Walk up our driveway, cross the road, and you'll find yourself on a multi-use biking/walking/hiking path that meanders through scenic foothill landscapes. Stellar bicycling is also easily accessible right out the front door. Let us know if you're interested in tips on where to bike, hike, and swim. We're also available (for a fee) to shuttle you up to a popular bicycling area nearby. Getting home is a fun downhill ride!

About This Space

A closer look at the stay

About

A little oasis in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California. Come decompress in this little studio cottage with a big yard. Compact and comfy, you'll find everything you need to relax and unwind. Free bikes for guests to use (and maps to local biking and hiking trails), pets welcome, and just a three-minute drive to downtown Nevada City and its vegan-friendly restaurants, wineries, and boutiques. Guests get a map to special spots on the Yuba River (just a 15-minute drive), and access to simple amenities including an outdoor yoga platform, petanque, badminton, and outdoor dining space.

The space

Our guesthouse is a roughly 300 square feet, with lots of windows and natural light, a well-equipped bathroom (with shower), and a fold-out sofa bed that's easy to make and comfy to sleep on. The kitchen is simple, with a stovetop, small refrigerator, kettle, tea and coffee, and filtered water for drinking and cooking with. Guests can make themselves at home and explore the yard (feel free to pick ripe blackberries and plums from the many trees around the property), play games (petanque, badminton), ride bikes (offered to guests for free), and do some wildlife viewing (we have deer, foxes, coyotes, the occasional bear, birds, lizards, and other creatures). Seating areas include a table and chairs for dining, a bar and stools for working or simply appreciating the outdoor views, the convertible couch, an outdoor table and chairs, and a vintage chaise longue for lounging.

The kitchen

A small refrigerator is available to guests, as is a water kettle, small stovetop, cooking utensils, and space for meal preparation. We also provide drinking water for guests.

Other things to note

Our home and studio cottage are located just off a two-lane highway connecting Nevada City and Lake Tahoe. Depending on the time of year, the road can be busy, but the cottage itself is peaceful and quiet. Internet connectivity isn't the best (it's slow), but it works! And we do share our home with an old but spunky rescue Chihuahua mix. We ask that you keep your pet on leash while you're here.
