About this space

Cozy, animal-friendly space in a great neighborhood.

The space

The full-size guest bed in my living room sleeps one comfortably, and is positioned next to two, south-facing windows, so the bed gets flooded with sunlight between April and September. The kitchen is directly off the living room, so there's no privacy. I work from home according to my own hours, so there are no better days than others as long as I have a few days' notice. I can occasionally show people around with my own car and possibly join for a hike if you're interested. I generally stay up working until around midnight and sleep until around 8am, but I can easily accommodate the schedule of visitors.

I have wi-fi and lots of books to read for guests. There's laundry in the basement ($1.50/wash & $1.50/dry).

The kitchen

Small, but all-vegan kitchen with minimal equipment other than basics. If you need something, please ask me if I have it.

Other things to note

I have bedding and lots of blankets & pillows for guests. The street parking is free but limited. I've had several cats and a dog in the past, but sadly they've all passed away. That does mean that your companion animal(s) are now welcomed guests too. :)

I'm an ethical vegan and work at home. I try to be as open to new experiences as I can be, while still being a critical thinker. I feel that the most vulnerable among us should be protected and consider myself a progressive/ socialist/ radical.

Neighbourhood

My one-bedroom home is in a quiet, 1920's apartment building in inner SE Portland, between two great streets (SE Hawthorne Blvd & SE Belmont St), each with trendy shops, bars, restaurants, and several grocery options nearby. My neighborhood was one of the first settlements on the east side, across the river from downtown. Giant trees line shaded sidewalks, and lush, garden-like yards are all over the place. Check the veg listings on Happy Cow, and I'm pretty much in the center of the cluster of options on the inner, east side.

Getting around: My place is between SE Hawthorne Blvd (#14 bus) & SE Belmont St (#15 bus) about 2 miles east of downtown. Either will get you into downtown within 10-15 minutes. I'm one block from a primary bike street, which is a major bike commuting route in the mornings. We also have Lyft, Uber, Zipcar, Turo, and various electric scooters around the neighborhood. Everything is very walkable.
