Getting around the area

We find it's a great place for relaxation, away from the hustle of large modern cities. The small-town vibe is like stepping back in time 50 years. The location is suitable as a stop-over between Hanmer Springs (45 minutes drive) and Christchurch (1 hrs drive). Hanmer Springs is the original, and most popular natural hot-pools location in the South Island of New Zealand. There are plenty of good vegan/vegetarian options in Christchurch, although that is 1 hour's drive away.

About This Space

A closer look at the stay

About

Tucked away in the 'middle of nowhere', you'll find some rest and respite here for your overnight stay between Christchurch and Hanmer Springs. With mountain surrounds and a rustic Kiwi town atmosphere.

The space

A tiny-home (6m x 2.4m), with a built-in kitchenette, and comfortably sized shower / toilet. During the day, the space has a large sofa, and a 4-seated mini-table, but at night the sofa folds out to become a double bed, suitable for a couple. Outside, the park-like environment offers mountain views. The building is alongside a second, larger tiny home, which is lived in by the owners.

The kitchen

The kitchen is modern, but limited, and currently has: A standalone induction hob. A kettle. Two tiny fridges, for small items, only (e.g. one can in each). A toaster. (Note: there is no oven) There is a fairly well equipped 4-square supermarket within 4 minutes walk, which has vegan options such as oat milk (which is open 8am - 5:30pm during week-days, 9 - 12 midday on a Saturday, and is not open on a Sunday).

Other things to note

It is generally remarkably quiet, although sometimes there are farm-type machine noises during week-days over the road. We don't have any animals on the property, but every now and then sheep from next door escape onto the street! There are some dogs in kennels next door that will bark, on occasion. Parking is straightforward, on the side of the street. Wifi is slightly patchy, at present, but it does work. We have high-speed fibre into the property. There is no TV in the property, but there is a small projector that can be attached to a phone. We are first-time hosts, so feedback would be appreciated from your experience.
