About this space

On the edge of the quiet Drenthe village of Schoonoord (1 km from the center), you will find this lovely characteristic cottage in an old farmhouse. Schoonoord and its surroundings are known to be one of the most beautiful areas of The Netherlands. It is surrounded by forests, heaths, and idyllic fens. In short, everything you can expect from the magical nature of Drenthe. The holiday cottage is an independent house located at the front of what used to be a Drenthe farmhouse from 1925. It has its own entrance and a private garden with lots of privacy! In this cozy holiday home, you will experience the atmosphere of the past with all the comforts of the present. It is fully equipped for two people. The living room consists of a dining and sitting area and an equipped open kitchen. You have access to a combi oven / microwave, grill (in the side kitchen) and coffee maker, kettle and fridge with a small freezer compartment in the kitchen. The cottage has central heating and a cozy gas stove.The bedroom has a double box spring bed. In addition, there is an old-fashioned box bed (adjusted size 1.20m wide and 2.20m long). A nice spot to quietly read a book or if one prefers to sleep separately. Furthermore, the front house has a bathroom with bath with shower and a separate shower, sink and toilet. Outside is a fenced private garden with terrace, directly accessible from the side kitchen/living area. There is a garden set to sit outside and a parasol available. In the spring and summer you can pick fresh organic herbs from your own garden.It is a smoke free house.The cottage is equipped with TV and internet. If desired, the WiFi is turned on or off. In the spacious garden there is a seating area and a bicycle shed. There are two bicycles available for rent per day or per week. From the cottage you can enjoy beautiful walking and cycling tours through forests and heathlands. In short, a cottage where you can fully enjoy your holiday! Two pets are welcome. Overnight cost of a pet is 5 euro per pet per night.. Several pets are also possible in consultation. Plantbased breakfast can be ordered in advance. The cost of a breakfast is 7.50 euro per person.

The kitchen

All kitchen appliance are available. In the fridge there is a small freezingbox area. If you wish to order a lovely plant-based breakfast there are two choices: continental and chia parfait.

You have booked our guesthouse. Thank you for choosing the cottage garden Lasca. We hope you will have a fantastic holiday! We would like to inform you below about a number of practical matters. In addition, a stay at Lasca comes with a few house rules. This indicates how we prefer to see you handling your holiday home and its inventory. We hope that you agree with this. If you stick to these rules, you will help us to offer you the best possible stay, also in the future.

What can you expect?

You can expect us to ensure that the guesthouse is neat and tidy and is available for you upon arrival. We are happy to point out the facilities in the immediate vicinity (shops, restaurants, etc.), some tourist tips and points of interest regarding your stay in our guesthouse. In addition, we want to settle the payment of the additional costs and the deposit with you.

The bed is neatly made for you, towels and tea towels are available for you in the house.

There is coffee, tea, vegetable milk (oat milk), sugar, a toilet roll and a kitchen roll to start your stay without having to go shopping straight away.

There is also a minibar where you can buy delicious organic soft drinks, wine and beer for a fee (and in the spring / summer there is also vegetable ice and water ice in the freezer). There is also a snack box in the utility room with delicious vegetable snacks (jerkies, chocolate bars, sweets, etc.). The consumptions can be paid in cash at the end of the stay.

There are also books, magazine, brochures and games available in the cottage.

House rules

You may use all items that are in or belong to the holiday home.We ask you to treat the objects in and around the house with care.

Prevention of damage and insurance

Nobody will deliberately damage anything in the house, yet it can happen to anyone that something breaks.

We appreciate it very much if you report any damage quickly to us, so that we do not find out until after your departure. The house is checked for defects and missing items before new guests arrive, as they too should be able to enjoy a comfortable holiday.

Because the tenants are liable for damage caused by them, co-tenants or guests, we advise you to take out legal liability insurance that covers any damage. We also recommend taking out cancellation insurance. Being well insured prevents financial disappointments.

Damages will be settled with the deposit and settled in cash.

- We request that you DO NOT smoke in the holiday home.

- Barbecuing is NOT allowed

- For fire safety, when you have finished watching TV, always switch the TV off completely

(so DO NOT leave it on standby).

- DO NOT leave chargers (phones, tablets, laptops etc.) in the electrical sockets when you leave the cottage or during the night.

Pets

We love animals. That is why pets are very welcome with us. But they must not be left alone in the house or the garden during your absence. Dogs are not allowed on the bed or on the couch. Due to safety and your own pets, we request that you always keep the animals on a leash on the site, except of course in the backyard of the holiday home and in your house. And to ensure that the backyard remains a pleasant and cleaner place, we greatly appreciate it if animals do not defecate in the garden (including not urinate).

Waste policy

We have separated waste. That is why you will find a duo retro waste bin in the kitchen where you can dispose of your PMD and residual waste. There is also a blue waste bin for waste paper and a separate waste bin on the terrace on the garden side for green waste and glass. Are you staying longer than a few days? Then we will be happy to collect it from you at your request. In this way we work together with our municipality on a cleaner environment.

Keys and remote control

Please be careful with the keys and remote control of the gate. With regards to safety and because replacing the gate remote control is expensive. Please do not put the remote control in your trousers’ pocket because its buttons are very sensitive and the port keeps opening and closing.

In case of loss of the key to the door or walkport, 25 euros will be charged (settled with the deposit or to be paid in cash).

In case of loss of the remote control of the gate, 65 euros will be charged (settled with the deposit and / or to be paid in cash).

Arrival and check-in time

We expect you on the day of your arrival between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. If you want to arrive at a later time, this is possible in consultation. Do you want to let us know as soon as possible?

Unfortunately, the holiday also comes to an end…. When the time comes:

On the day of departure, the guesthouse must be cleared away between 10:00 and 10:30. The refrigerator must be empty (except for what is left of the mini bar). After it appears that the guesthouse and the inventory have been left in good condition, the deposit will be settled with you again. Do you want to make sure that the refrigerator is empty upon departure (except for the remaining contents of the minibar)?

Down payment or payment

Transferring the advance or (partial) payment to the intermediary means that you agree with these rules.

Cancellation Policy

The tenant must always cancel in writing. The advance will not be refunded in case of cancellation.

In addition, the tenant owes the following cancellation costs:

• 50% of the rental price if canceled within 14 days before the start date of

the rental period;

• 75% of the rental price if canceled within 3 days before the start date of the

rental period;

• 100% of the rental price in case of cancellation on the day before the start date of the

rental period;

If the stay is still for the entire agreed period rented to a third party, 50% of the cancellation costs

(excluding the advance) will be deducted from the next booking unless the renter

within 6 months (from the day of cancellation) and for an equal period (if canceled period) book and

stay directly with Lasca.

If the stay is not made for the entire agreed period rented to a third party, 25% of the cancellation

costs (excluding the advance) will be deducted from the next booking unless the renter

within 6 months (from the day of cancellation) and for an equal period (if canceled period) book and stay directly with Lasca.

We expect you to take good care of our guesthouse and hope that you will soon be able to look back on the holiday you spent with us with pleasure.

This choice led me later to study natural food so I could be well informed and advise others when the occasion occurred. I love renting my house to fellow animal lovers who translate their love into a a life style. Aside from that I am a natural therapist with a practise. I work with trauma and themes in which people are stuck, burn outs and emotional and physical pain. I am currently writing an urban fantasy book with plenty of slight or clear confrontations about consumption choices especially related to animals. I hope this book will inspire many to make conscious and compassionate choices. Also I often work in my perma culture kitchen garden which requires quite a lot of attention. From the house you are almost directly at the Sleenerzand forestry where you can enjoy its 1600 hectares of forest and heaths. On hot days you can also swim in idyllic fens. In one of these ponds nearby you can even swim with your dog (s). For golf lovers there are several golf courses (18 holes) about 10 kilometers away. The host will provide you with tips for lovely walks.

In addition to the beautiful nature of Drenthe, if you also wish to get acquainted with the interesting Drenthe culture and historical sights, then you can visit, for example, the Dolmens, the Ellert and Brammert Museum, the museum village of Orvelte, the Veenpark in Emmer-Compascuum, the Remembrance Camp in Westerbork, the Planetron in Dwingeloo and much more. The Boomkroonpad, where you can walk between the treetops, is also worth while.
All necessary shops for daily shopping are at 5 minutes cycling distance. For more extensive shopping, a health food store or to go shopping, you can go to the cozy village of Borger, in Emmen or in Assen. In short, plenty of opportunities for a fantastic holiday. The holiday home is very easy to reach by car or bicycle and is ideally located for public transport, from the bus stop (line Emmen / Assen) it is less than a 1 minute walk.
