Beautiful secluded log cottage with a private lake, on 150 acres of forest, close to Algonquin Park.
The property features approximately 5000 ft of lakefront shoreline on three lakes.
The house is located on a peaceful and quiet private lake perfect for swimming and boating. There are several walking trails on the property that features the beautiful natural Muskoka landscape in a mature forest! Several springs on the property and plenty of ancient granite formations complement the landscape offering plenty of opportunity to explore and enjoy.
We offer a pedal boat, a canoe, two kayaks, and a large floating raft as well as several other water toys for your enjoyment! There are 4 adult life jackets and 2 medium kid size.
We also offer a canoe by the shore of the second lake. You can use it to visit our little island.
The cottage features three large bedrooms, a large loft area, a very welcoming living room with lots of games for family fun, a fully equipped kitchen, a wood fireplace in the living area and a wood stove in the kitchen, a dining room and a bathroom! The deck offers a nice view of the lake, perfect for those morning yoga sessions!
We provide bedding, blankets and pillows but you must bring your own towels.
The cottage is on an off-grid solar system that provide electricity for lights, and the small appliances we provide: coffee machine, toaster, and a hand blender. We have satellite internet to provide basic web browsing services. We also have a TV (no cable) with a Blue-ray player, so you can bring and watch your favorite shows and movies.
Summer: enjoy the water sports on the private 14 acres lake, hike through the forest, breathe in the clean oxygen rich forest air and smell the sweet white pine scent while sleeping in the hammock by the lake, do a morning forest yoga session and enjoy your coffee looking at the stunning lake and forest view from the deck.
Fall: crisp air and forest colours make the fall hike the best experience you will ever have, the view from the deck are zen like as the maple trees from the hill across the lake change color. Go on a canoe ride across the lake and have your friends take a picture of you fading away in the lake fog rising up in the morning. Listen to the forest sounds, it will be a healing experience.
Winter: imaging skating on a private 14 acres lake and then having a cup of hot cocoa in front of the fire place. The trees along the driveway are covered in snow and the branches touch up above almost giving you the impression of walking in an ice castle. The X-mas tree is set up in mid-November.
Spring: nothing beats the view of life emerging from the forest floor. Gentle spring flowers, raw green of the leafs, and trickling sound of the springs make hiking a very special experience.
Guest access: Guests have access to the entire home, the 3 lakes and the forest around it. There are several hiking trails that we maintain on our property. We have several water toys that are available for the guest as well: 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, 1 row boat, 1 pedal boat, 1 very large floating raft.
The kitchen
Our family is strictly vegan but we have a dog so we might have some non vegan food for the dog on site. We have a propane fridge with a freezer and a propane stove.with oven. The kitchen is fully stoked with dishes, pots and pans as well as some small appliances: coffee maker, hand blender, toaster, and Vitamix blender.

1. Absolutely no smoking is permitted in the house. If you smoke outside, you must dispose of your cigarettes buts appropriately and take them away when you leave. Under no circumstances should cigarettes or buts should be left around the property anywhere! 2. Absolutely no hunting on the property. We like our property to remain a refuge for wild life. 3. Absolutely no carving on the trees. Most trees on the property are over 100 years old. The two white spruce on each side of the house by the lake are estimated to be over 300 years old! Also, please no trash in the forest, around the house or in the water. Our property is very clean and we take environment pollution very serious. Yes, we are tree huggers! 4. No balloons of any kind are allowed on the property. The wild animals can ingest the small pieces of rubber and get sick. 5. The cottage is fully functional on off-grid solar system. You should be able to run the small appliances we provided without any trouble: coffee machine, toaster, and a hand blender. Please do not run more than one appliance at the same time or the fuse will break. There is a dedicated extension cord near the appliances counter. No outside appliances are permitted as they may overload the system. 6. There are several movies available on DVD and Blu-ray at the cottage and guests are welcome to bring more. 7. The cell signal is spotty in the area but we provide a cell phone signal booster in the house. Wireless internet is available as well. 8. Fireworks are strictly prohibited in the entire town of Kearney and on our property due to forest fires risk. 9. Camp fire: Due to forest fire risks, the town of Kearney and entire Almaguin Highlands municipality has very strict rules on open air fires. You must obey the open air fire regulations at all times. Any camp fire or open air fire must be supervised at all times. Please note that in the summer the risk of forest fires is high or very high. I will provide you with up to date fire restrictions the day you arrive. The firewood at the cottage is for heating the house in the winter. You can bring your own firewood or you can buy some of ours. Should you want to purchase some of ours, let me know ahead of time and I will be preparing it. It would be $10 a bundle. A bundle should be sufficient for one camp fire. 10. If you bring a dog please keep it on a leash at all times while hiking. Clean up dog poop promptly. Dog poop is a dangerous pollutant and can make wild life very sick. Do not allow the dog to poop near the lake or springs. Do not allow the dog to chase any animals.

We are a vegan family lucky to own a little piece of heaven. We love hikes through the forest with our dog, swim in the lake, and spend time mesmerized by the nature.
