Getting around the area
Just one block away is a quiet, wooded park situated along the coastline of Lemon Bay, with miles of beautiful nature trails and plenty of wildlife. A short bike-ride away is our quaint main-street with shops, cafes, live music, weekly farmer’s market (October-May) and other lively events. Several wonderful parks with sunsets over the water are also within easy bike-riding distance along the shores of beautiful Lemon Bay, and our gorgeous natural Gulf of Mexico beaches are 5 miles away on the Manasota Key. We provide bikes and kayaks for your local explorations. There are several vegan-friendly restaurants nearby. We are 45 minutes from the wonderful larger coastal city of Sarasota, and 20 minutes from the famously healing Warm Mineral Springs in Northport.

About
The Living Heart Sanctuary is a comfortable, health-oriented home tucked into the heart of the ‘Olde Englewood Village’ in the small town of Englewood. We are located in SW Florida, on the Gulf Coast. Your host Ellen is a long-term raw vegan, and opens up Living Heart Sanctuary to share with you, offering two beautiful, side-by-side double-occupancy guest rooms that share a guest-bathroom with tub/shower. Guests have access to a secondary community kitchenette and laundry. Ellen's main kitchen is equipped with the tools of a modern vegan lifestyle including Vitamixers, Nama juicer, Excalibur dehydrator, veggie spiralizers and more, which you are welcome to borrow upon request. During your stay, you are invited to relax and enjoy the sanctuary space, indoors and out. Kayaks and bicycles are available for your use.
The space
Living Heart Sanctuary is a modest, recently renovated Florida-style ranch home. Two side-by-side guest rooms accommodate up to 2 persons per room, with twin-bed, king, and queen bed options. The shared bath has a tub with shower. Common spaces are shared, such as the front screened porch, living and dining room with small library, extra kitchenette and laundry room, and outside garden spaces. Bicycles and kayaks are available for use.
The kitchen
The guests' simple communal kitchenette has the necessary basics, and includes a refrigerator, large sink, hot-plate, toaster oven, tea kettle and French press coffee maker. Special equipment can be borrowed upon request from Ellen's main kitchen, such as Vitamix blender, juicer, dehydrator, veggie spiralizer.
Other things to note
Sadie is an 11-year old medium-sized dog who lives here in Living Heart Sanctuary. She is extraordinarily sweet and quiet, and generally beloved by all who meet her. The Sanctuary is on a quiet neighborhood road across from a 5-acre wooded church property.
