The kitchen

The kitchenette was bespoke built, with real oak work tops and a baby butler sink. It has the following: single electric hob, kettle, toaster, fridge with small freezer compartment, coffee bean grinder. Crockery and some vintage plates on display, some of which are bone china. Basic condiments. Washing up facilities.

NB Heavily spiced food not permitted as although delicious, they permeate this little studio space furnishings.

Other things to note

All my animals are kept fenced away from you. My cat may wander down though so be warned! There are deep ditches, heavy machinery and electric fence nearby. Sometimes older villagers on the island still allow their sheep dogs and sheep to wander, this is pretty rare now but it happens. (This is part of the reason we do not accept pets or children.) Deer can wonder in all rural areas of the island too, including on the road. The sheep dogs/ sheep/ deer are not aggressive. This is generally a quiet area and guests must respect and maintain this, with no loud music or shouting outside. At certain times of the year when hay is being produced, there is large agricultural machinery working late at night nearby. There are crowing cockerels and wild birds nearby. There can be local children playing which can be noisy.

I am a 45 year old Scottish Hebridean Gael who loves animals and living the good life. I live in a Hebridean cottage on the sea shore (it is called a seawater loch as it is a sheltered inlet). The cottage is on a large area of ground known as a croft. I live here with my husband who has been my partner for 22 years, 2 rehomed dogs, 3 rehomed cats, 2 rehomed ponies and new baby horse. No children. I love the 'Good Life' and slow living and grow my own food in my polytunnel. I love nature and our rugged beauty here. Sometime I board dogs in my home. I was vegetarian from age 11, but now follow a vegan diet. I do not buy or use leather, or use products tested on animals. But I will go for a pony ride now and again and there is vintage local wool in the property.

Neighbourhood

This is a beautiful area with dark skies and amazing nature including otters, eagles, corn crakes and cuckoos. Lots of hills and moors nearby to explore. This is rural crofting village and unfortunately most people still focus on 'livestock' production here. People raise animals for consumption nearby.

Ann's property is located in Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Scotland, GB
