I was born and raised in Portland, and I enjoy traveling near and far (mostly near since covid). I've always loved animals, and have been meat-free since 2008, vegan since 2019. I find joy in being outside - paddle boarding, hiking, camping - trying new foods, crafting, drumming, roller skating, and cooking/baking.

My Lifestyle

I'm a child-free leftist who feels protective of and responsible for animals and the planet, with a strong affinity for the ocean. I'm Buddhist-leaning, and value building community connection across moments and years.

Getting around the area

I'm walking distance from two rad vegan spots. I love giving recommendations! My neighborhood is not central, but is easy to access by transit, or by car/Uber (near the freeway). By transit, it's 30-60 min to popular locations, or by car it's 15-30 min to popular locations.

About This Space

A closer look at the stay

About

This is a quiet place to stay, among trees and hillside views. A full vegan kitchen, shared bathroom, and cozy living area with all the streaming services. I’m in the Lents neighborhood, 20 minutes walk to our little "downtown." My neighborhood is not central, but you can get around easily by transit (30-60 min to popular locations), or by car/Uber (15-30 min to popular locations). Off-street guest parking is available with enough heads up for me to get you a parking pass. Free street parking is always available. It’s also quite bike friendly - I live off a 30 mile bike trail.

The space

I have a tall, full size blow up mattress I set up in my spare room/office. The space is your private space at night, but I might need access to storage in the room during the day. I WFH, so I'll be around during the day, but I don't use the office when I have guests. Off-street guest parking is available, but limited. In the spirit of "Couchsurfing" this room is indeed free! If you need to stay more than 2 days, I ask for a small contribution to utilities, which can be discussed at the time of booking inquiry. I’m usually early to bed (9/10 pm) and early to rise (6/7 am). Depending on the day, I can be flexible to accommodate guests. My house is unique - it's very quiet and the complex is tight knit, we keep an eye out for each other. It's also near popular houseless camping areas (Springwater Cooridoor). I personally am not phased by campers, and have felt fine walking around my neighborhood. That said, safety is different for everyone. If you have questions about my neighborhood, let me know!

The kitchen

In addition to the appliances listed, I have a small air fryer. I keep an all-vegan kitchen and household; please only bring vegan foods into the home. Thank you!

Other things to note

Trying to make this work while in a pandemic! Let's communicate openly about Covid exposure and any symptoms we might be having. I'm sure we can find a work around if someone is sick. Depending on my availability, I could grab dinner with you, take you on a hike, or show you a favorite tourist (or local) spot. I am on the third floor, so it's not ADA accessible.
