Feeling very lucky to be living in West Cornwall, when not being enjoyed by family, we are happy to open our detached studio to visitors. We've always had great experiences staying at airbnb properties in the UK and around Europe so being a vegetarian family were delighted to now discover 'Vegvisits'. We really hope our place provides you with the ideal base for so many outdoor pursuits and so many places to explore.

Getting around the area

What makes our location special? Well there are so many reasons for visiting Pendeen! Originally a mining village, Geevor Tin Mine closed in 1990 but remains open to visitors for guided tours above and below ground. There you'll also find the Hard Rock Museum, a shop and the Count House Cafe looking out over the mine workings to the sea. Walk up onto the moors and you'll discover an abundance of historic remains like the Neolithic Chun Quoit and Iron Age Chun Castle. A mile down the road is Pendeen Watch Lighthouse leading to Boat Cove and Portherras Cove beaches. This is a popular spot for bird watching where Cornish Choughs can be sighted if you're lucky. Portherras beach is worth the walk and a favourite in the summer for swimming, snorkelling and watching for seals. 1 mile away, just before reaching the Lighthouse, there is access to the South West Coast Path which brings many walkers to the village with St Ives approximately 13 miles and Land's End 10 miles away with breathtaking coves and scenery along the way. There is a regular 'Coaster' bus in summer, which is often a great way to explore, especially for visiting St Ives in the busier summer months or take the train from Penzance to St Ives. Tate St Ives, The Barbara Hepworth Museum and The Bernard Leach Pottery are amongst the many attractions. Penzance, only 6 miles away, is our closest town with many pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Prom is a great place to exercise - walk, cycle, sea swim or visit the outdoor Jubilee Pool with a thermally heated area. The path continues around Mount's Bay reaching Marazion and St Michael's Mount to the east and the village of Mousehole to the west. St Michael's Way is another great day's walk (approximately 13 miles) leading from Lelant (near St Ives) to Marazion (St Michael's Mount) connecting the north and south coasts. The route is marked with scallop shell signs.
