Getting around the area

You can walk right across towards the Lagoon Beach, past the 'Millionaires' Row' of Mansions of America's Cup Fame (which Australia won in 1983) to the Yanchep Lagoon. Or catch bus 491 almost in front of your doorstep, to take you to the train down South, to the Fair City of Perth or Fremantle, via Butler Station, at less than 13 Dollars return. You can stop & shop either in Yanchep Central, or Butler, or walk on foot, eastward from the Hacienda, across sports grounds hills, to Woolworth, Medical & Dental ,Pharmacy, etc. Favorite places: Visit Yanchep National Park, only 7 km East, and enjoy Salad & Cider for a few Dollars in the company of wild parrots in the lovely garden restaurant outside the historic Yanchep Inn, then walk over to the furry Koalas high up in the gum trees, or visit the Stalactite Caves, without having to travel hundreds of km South to Yallingup! Or drive 7 km North to TWO ROCKS for a sunset dinner overlooking the idyllic mini-harbour, at "Curry On the Rocks", an excellent, vegetarian-friendly,North Indian Curry Restaurant (which takes home deliveries, too!) or have a salad lunch at NEPTUNE' S CAFE- with splendid ocean & harbour vistas. There are 3 more restaurants around, and a little shopping mall, a bakery, a small art gallery built into the harbour wall, a travel agency etc. Don't forget to visit a Colossal King Neptune inviting you to hold you in his hand- literally and the Park of Aboriginal Statues which were created by the American artist Le Buse, right between Curry Restaurant and Supermarket! Getting around: As listed above, TransPerth busses & trains can connect you with the Big City of 2 million souls- ( which stretches down to Mandurah along the Indian Ocean over a length of 120km or more ! But nowhere else (bar on the train from Perth Centre to Fremantle)can you SEE the Ocean from the train or bus- but ONLY between Yanchep and Two Rocks. My favourite scenic Little BIG OCEAN ROAD is therefore NOT to be missed: Just take BUS 490 Yanchep Central ( near Pharmacy) to Two Rocks and enjoy a few minutes of visual delight: seeing that wonderful ocean panorama and the last remaining stretch of original dune vegetation bushland, untouched by bulldozers, while you can! And the same applies to the last remaining original bushlands that can only be seen from your train- between Butler and Joondalup. Don't miss it ! Soon it will be gone forever.
