I was born in Lisbon. I began as a macrobiotic vegetarian ( quite vegan ) when I was 19 in order to respect the animal rights of living. In 1985 after retired, my mother began to restore our family manor for guests. I've lived here since 1999. I like to walk in the mountains, listen to music and people, reading, do some gardening, handcraft, weaving etc. I am Buddhism friendly. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Getting around the area
Our house is surrounded by a 3 ha of olive yard located in a typical Portuguese village with 900 inhabitants most of them farmers and shepherds. Favorite places: Serra da Estrela Getting around: We are at 600 meters over the sea level, near the mountains of the natural park of Serra da Estrela. There are several hiking trails available , little rivers and lakes to explore.

A closer look at the stay
About
"Casa Grande" is a XVI century house overlapped by a XVIII century manor-house, always belonging to our family. It is surrounded by our Country Houses, a camellia garden, an old olive-yard and our traditional forge. You can find us in the little village of Paços da Serra, between Seia and Gouveia (8km from both) in the Portuguese mountains of Serra da Estrela.
The space
We have rustic apartments in Casa Grande (TH) for two people each (with one or two beds), all of them with fireplace, kitchenette and private bathroom. There are also six Country Houses (CC) with one, two, three or four rooms. All of these also have a fireplace, kitchenette and bathroom. All accommodations overlook the garden and have tv. Parking is within our property. This has 3 hectares of olive trees Guest access: Gests can have access to the the olive yard and the garden, can visit our forge museum, the Roman milestone, relaxing under the trees or the big shed . In the lounge gests can have wifi, coffee, try our home made liquors and have a look on the aerial photos and the traditional loom.
The kitchen
Each apartment or country house for guests has a little kitchenette with a refrigerator and a small stove top where you can cook your lunch or dinner. In my personal kitchen we can prepare your breakfast if needed.
Other things to note
Each apartment has a fire place, wood and electric heating for stays in Winter.
