About this space

Something about this space exudes comfort and sanctuary and warmly greets all who enter. Ideal for any traveler but especially suited for those 'new to the city' who need a little time to get settled. Long-term stays are ideal; all are welcomed. There are several public schools and one university in the area (within walking distance), making it Ideal for teachers and college students.

The space

The bedroom has a queen bed, there is a full sized sofa bed in the living room which sleeps two adults comfortably, and 2 twin air mattresses which can be set up in a second bedroom. NOTE: The air mattresses are just a bit more narrow than a normal twin. The living room is available if needed, just let me know!

Guest access: There is a W/D (for an additional $5 per load) and internet..

The kitchen

Kitchen asks to be used! There is a disposal - (although I most often use a homemade compost pile out back), micro-wave, dishwasher and gas stove and a full sized fridge.

Greetings everyone, I am overjoyed to have discovered this site.! I am a vegetarian for well over half of my life, vegan for the past 15 or so. I work hard to a better person (daily). Mainly I leave as small a 'footprint' as possible, smile at strangers, still use the good ole (southern) manners I was taught and now, thanks to the wonderful WWW, I now can host travelers in my home! I live as low on the grid as possible - recycle, use a space heater when layering is not enough, wear shoes outside ONLY and (Try to never) kill bugs. I am a semi-retired MSW, adjusting to calling myself a 'seniorpreneur' but am loving making a living by combining fitness instruction, writing, program/staff consultation and substitute teaching; I am constantly looking to add to the list of 'micro-gigs'.

Neighbourhood

Historic Pigtown is known for its 'quaint' and eclectic character. Just off the I-95 freeway, the house is a little over a mile from downtown and the Horseshoe Casino, M&T Bank stadium are in walking distance. Carroll Park - right across the street, is great for exercising and has a Par Course. Old Major is the Cheers 'like' bar, Breaking Bread our cozy eatery is a few blocks away. Both venues have several vegan and vegetarian options. Close to the newly renovated 1900's Bath House is a great micro brewery and library.
If you are a nature lover (like me), the Gywnn Falls trail picks up...

If you are a nature lover (like me), the Gywnn Falls trail picks up in the park and Patapsco State Park is about 4 miles west of the house.
Favorite places: Old Major is our neighborhood 'Cheers". Its about 5 blocks from the house. I dearly love the park right across the street.
Getting around: The city bus stops in the next bock and operates about every 15 minutes. Ample parking is available along Washington Blvd as well as the side streets. The I-95 Freeway is about half a mile, Greyhound bus station a mile. The MARC train and Amtrak station is 3 or so. One way to DC is under $10 and takes 45 minutes.
