I am originally from Brazil, living in CA since 2005. I have recently moved to the Inland Empire area from Orange County during the pandemic after buying this house. I have since rented rooms but it can be hard to find vegan roommates. I am easy going and like to make sure people feel as comfortable as possible when I host anyone. In the moment as I work towards building my nutrition business, I have not been very social, but I typically spend a lot of time with my friends. I was a young mother and my children are a grown up now. I transitioned into a vegetarian diet from vegan beginning in 2008, been doing this for a long time and it is very easy for me at this point.

My Lifestyle

Love waking up early and do some movement. Working from home over the last couple of years have been extremely challenging as I used to love working with lots of people in the clinic, but I like not having to commute and polluting less. I am an ethical vegan and extremely careful everything I buy to avoid animal cruelty.

Fun Facts About Me

I went to Europe in 1999 and wondered around several countries. I lived with diasporas of several continents and countries, having friends from all over the world before social media. When I moved to the US I worked in an exotic bird store where I learned a lot about parrots and also learned how to groom their nails and beaks, I also learned how brutal and wrong this industry is and ended rescuing many birds to find homes. My last rescues still live with me as it is very difficult to find descent homes for parrots.

Hobbies & Interests

I love traveling, hiking, going to the beach, going to samba parties with my Brazilian friends, going to any parties with my friends. I am not a drinker though, if my friends want to drink I am usually the DD.

Nutrition Counseling

I just recently became a certified nutrition specialist and I am establishing my business, which keeps me very busy at this time. I have a deep understanding of GI issues, and nutrigenomix, so I can definitely help with tips to optimize plant based diets. I also work with organic super foods and can always make suggestions for better nutritional sources.

Neighborhood

Getting around the area

The neighborhood is very quiet, new community, very safe. There is a lot of construction going here and the community itself does not have much to offer other than a fantastic view of the mountains and the lake. But we are very close to the freeway and near Temecula, close to old town and wine country. There are some vegan and restaurants with vegan options around in Temecula. From here it is easy to explore the area from Orange County to San Diego. There are also farms to visit in Riverside and Fallbrook. Murieta and Temecula both have very nice farmers markets.

About This Space

A closer look at the stay

About

Newly built house on hilltop with view to Lake Elsinore, 15 minutes from Old Town Temecula, right off of I-15 freeway. One room is available sharing bathroom with one other person. Rescue birds living in the house and a very polite kitty living until end of January with my current roommate.

The space

One small room with large closet, mirror doors, minimally furnished with full size bed, new mattress and sheets. Backyard is big but still not landscaped. The house is spacious, large tv on the living room. I work from home during the day. Birds stay either in the living room, my room or office. Person must be an animal lover. My rescue cockatoo sleeps well and does not cause trouble overnight, but during the day he can get exited if he hears people in the living room. My current roommate is on the room across, he works overnight and keeps the bathroom very clean at all times. His cat stays in the room with him or wonders around the house or my office with me. She is very sweet and polite.

The kitchen

My kitchen is strictly vegan. I have a large refrigerator with freezer drawer on the bottom that can be shared with a vegan guest. My birds foods is plant based. Unfortunately my roommate is not vegan, but he agreed to not bring any animal foods to the kitchen. He uses a refrigerator in the garage where the microwave is also. I have a large air fryer as well as stove with large, convection oven for vegan baking. I am a vegan nutritionist and I do not mind sharing meals that I make. I have a Vitamix that I use all the time everyday, I can assign a nutribullet for a guest upon request if they don't want to use my Vitamix, which is obviously worn up from so much use. My roommate typically eats his meals in his room and does not put any trash on the kitchen trash bins. I like to keep my recyclables clean and separated. I compost food left overs on the backyard. I don't have a porch per se but I like to sit in front of the garage to watch the sunset, it is very beautiful and it can actually be seen from the window in the guest room.

Other things to note

I have a rescue cockatoo who gets exited and screams if he hears people during the day. We have a routine, I let him and my blue crown conure out early as I get ready to work and get them ready for the day. They stay in my room but it is always best to not be afraid of birds. I have rescued love birds that stay on the porch or inside the house in the large cage depending on the weather. They were meant to be my fosters but I still have not found good homes for them. The kitchen is well equipped and guests can cook/make vegan meals as they wish. I ask to make sure any food scraps are separated for the compost. We also have droughts a lot here so I ask to be as conservative as possible with the water. The roommate's cat food and litter all stay in his bedroom, there is no smell and her non-vegan food is never in the shared areas of the house. The birds do eat and walk on the counter, I clean up with EWG certified products and make my own cleaners with vinegar and citrus peels also. I am very easy going, specially when there is no meat and animal foods around. The guest room is attached to my office, so there will be noise during the day on my working hours but the house is very quiet at night. My birds get covered to sleep sometime around 7-8pm, sometimes later during summer and the house becomes very quiet. I sometimes watch tv while cooking or having dinner but each room has a smart tv with internet too. Netflix is in the large tv in the living room. Wi fi is very reliable and fast.

It is important to be quiet during the day on the week due to my work from home. It is always quiet at night but common areas and tv can be used, I keep the birds with in the room, so late night activity is not a problem. Companion animals can be negotiated considering the animals already living in the house.
