Hi I'm Zoë, a Londonian who fell in love with this wilderness here in Aude, SW France over 30 years ago. I have been living at this old water mill since 1999 of which part of it has been dated 1650s. I am delighted to say that since summer 2021 my daughter Maya has moved back . As a visual artist/herbalist she is turning the land here into wonderful medicinal gardens with many herbs, flowers (especially ancient roses) and vegetables.We have already begun distilling roses and nettles. We have many common interests especially our love of Nature and doing our best to maintain, care and cultivate this precious oasis with as much respect and sustainability as possible. Also we both agree that laughter is one of the best medicine. So even if we work hard we love to meet new people and share our universe! As an artist this quiet beauty that surrounds is wonderful inspiration. My creative work are my direct connection to Nature, often using natural pigments, ochres, indigo and recently making installations from Iris leaf fibres. I have been studying Buddhist philosophy and practises for over 20 years and sometimes go on meditation retreats. This is a perfect spot. People often say it is magic here and return again and again as one of their special places. Wow that is so special to know!!! It would be wonderful to welcome you to our home at the Moulin de la Conque.
