Hi, Victoria & Jonathan here. Co-founders and critter caregivers here at Grateful Meadows. We strive to create a relaxing, clean, and memorable experience for all our guests. Two simple principles we live by are "leave every place better than when you arrived" & "be kind". As much as we enjoy traveling, our favorite place to be is at Grateful Meadows.

Getting around the area
county living. Favorite places: Colonial Williamsburg and Richmond Virginia have lots of amazing Veg friendly restaurants. York River state park is our favorite local spot to hike. The Mattaponi Reserve winery, is our favorite winery in our 'Hampton Road Wine Region'. Getting around: You will need a vehicle to get around the area. There is no local public transportation. We are in a rural area.

A closer look at the stay
About
We are Grateful Meadows a sanctuary for humans and animals. While staying at Grateful Meadows you're welcome to meet our sanctuary residents (pigs, chickens, pup, cats, & donkeys), jump in the salt water pool, or unwind on the walking trails. A sanctuary tour is included with every booking. Breakfast and snacks can be provided as well, just ask in advance. Please understand, the bathroom is NOT in the guest cottage. The private full bathroom is in the basement of the hosts house.
The space
Wake up in a cottage nestled on the forests edge to the sounds of rescued donkeys braying, chickens exploring, and local wildlife. The Cozy Cottage at Grateful Meadows is a 123 sq. foot room with an organic queen mattress, organic linens, vintage end-tables, and an over-sized chair. The cottage offers a 180 degree view of the rescued donkeys and chickens pasture. Just a few steps outside of the cottage is the guest lounge which has a full bathroom, kitchenette, and lounge area. Guest access: WiFi. Saltwater pool is open in the summer. Hiking trails around the property. Sanctuary tour. Access to the guest lounge with games, puzzles, billiards, darts, and a projector T.V.
The kitchen
The kitchenette has a refrigerator, freezer, single burner, utensils, microwave, coffee/tea, dishes, toaster, blender, and a double sink. It's not a full kitchen but you can cook a good simple meal.
Other things to note
We live about 40 minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, which offers lots of great Veg friendly restaurants, vintage shops, and hiking trails. We also have lots of local season berry farms and wineries in the area.
