In walking distance of King's Cross, Camden Town, Regent's Canal and Angel.Easy going host and two calm and friendly cats to welcome you :)PRICE: The cost is £40 per day, whether is one or two people. Please remember that £12 will be added to the price of the room for cleaning every week.MINIMUM STAY: Fridays and Saturdays the minimum stay is 3 days (so, either Thursday or Sunday must be included). Other days the minimum stay is 2 days.CHECK-IN WINDOW: 1pm-11pm - CHECK-OUT: by 11am. If your arrival falls outside the check-in window, let's have a chat to see how we can make it work.

The space

It's a clean, sunny, well equipped and lovely, albeit unpretentious apartment. It is also well insulated and surprisingly quiet despite being very close to the main road. The room is not large but not small either, and there is space for your luggage under the bed.

The pictures don't show the room as it is now: it has been refurbished, and the new décor is styled with vintage and upcycled furniture, including some antiques and curios. Motifs from nature and sustainable materials give a special character to the space. From the bed you can see London's skyline --so, it's of an unusual height: 1 metre (please contact me before booking if you have any mobility impairment). All bed linen, which is vintage and soft, and towels are pure cotton. There is a large drawer for your use, a shelf, plus space and hangers in the built-in wardrobe.

There are tea making facilities for you in the bedroom.

In the morning, from 8.30am to 9.30am (let me know if you prefer it a bit earlier or late), you are welcome to have breakfast in the living room: fair trade tea and coffee, plant milks, and cereals.

Essential toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, soap --all in bars, no plastic containers), towels and a hair drier are at your disposal. The bathroom is located opposite to the bedroom and separated from the living room, where I will work and sleep during your visit.

If you are on a longer trip, the washing machine is available, so your clothes can be laundered before your next destination (a small contribution will be appreciated).

Everything at home for human use is vegan, locally made when possible, and of low impact on the environment, including organic and chemical-free produce. That includes food, clothing, toiletries and cleaning products. A couple of vintage items contain animal skin/feathers.

The room is ideal for two people. There is a spare air mattress, reasonably comfortable, that can be used for a child or for a last minute guest coming along (it happens every now and then), although the room becomes 'very cosy' with a second bed! I ask for £12 per night for this.

My apartment is in zone 2 border with zone 1 (London has 6 zones) and the public transport is really fantastic; for instance, from Caledonian Road station to Piccadilly Circus, the underground journey is 11 minutes, and the apartment is 3 minutes from the station. However, if you wish to stay on a zone 1 accommodation, please choose accordingly :)

My companions are furry people... No matter how much I clean, it's impossible to have a hair-free space when you live with furry people. Please bear that in mind before booking my place. If you relate well to non-human animals, you are going to love the boys, because their gentle, polite, affectionate nature. The boys are flexitarian (they developed critical urinary complications when transitioning to a full plant-based diet).

My approach is that we are 'flat-mates' rather than 'guest and host', so we all live together in a friendly and enjoyable way for a few days. Ah, the boys are also our flat-mates!

If you wonder why I don't upload updated pictures, well, for two reasons: I'd like to surprise you with a space nicer than the one you saw; and because I'd like to protect my privacy as much as possible... 'Lady Scott' is a pen name, and I am not a cat ;)

Guest access: If you arrive to London very early (before the 1 pm check-in time), do message me and I'll try to help, so you can come home, leave your luggage and get the keys. Equally, if your flight is in the evening and happens to be delayed (so if you miss the check-in window: 1pm to 11pm), don't worry... you won't be sleeping on the street :)

For your check-out, you can leave your luggage at home and keep the keys (to collect it later) if your departure flight/train is in the evening.

The bedroom is yours (and the boys'...). We share the bathroom. The living room is also available in the morning for breakfast.

When returning home late, please keep your voice down as this is a residential area. Thanks!

Neighbourhood

Islington is one of London's 32 boroughs. It is situated north of the Thames, and it is bordered by: Camden (west), Hackney (east), Haringey (north) and The City (south).
You have several trendy areas within walking distance: in Islington (Upper Street, Angel) and Camden (Camden Town, Kentish Town, King's Cross). You'll have plenty of info about what to do around. Hackney, which is pretty close too, is totally worth exploring.
Favorite places: Lots of cool places around and plenty of things to do.
Please do ask me and I'll tell you more about it...

Getting around: You'll enjoy the best possible public transport, operating 24 hours: underground (tube), buses, overground and trains. The tube and buses taking you to 'central London' are 3 min away; car hire companies (Sixt, Europcar) 5 min walk; the overground and national railway station is 15 min away; a bit further down there is a Santander cycles' docking station; Camden Town and Granary Square (King's Cross) are 25-30 min walk.
Please check TfL's website and consider to buy (online or immediately after your arrival) an Oyster card. It's the most convenient and affordable way to travel around. You can pre-pay the minimum amount, and top up here as needed.
