About this space

A property of beautiful rustic charm in the unspoilt countryside of the French Department La Corrèze. The cottage is off grid and ½ km down a rural track from a pretty hamlet of a few dwellings. Our home presents an opportunity to 'get away from it all', rest and enjoy quiet, natural surroundings and spot the wildlife. One can walk through fields and woodlands around the property, lie in hammocks from the trees and sit among flowers, butterflies and vegetables in our colourful garden. It's a painter's paradise, a bird-watcher's haven or a natural place just to contemplate.Through the warm months you can cook outside on a stone 'range' using wood from our forest and sit out viewing the stars in clear skies with little light pollution.

The space

The whole cottage with attached converted barn. Parking behind the cottage, or near the track.

The accommodation includes the kitchen/diner/sitting room in the downstairs of the cottage, with

a room in the ground floor of the barn for outdoor equipment eg. boots, bikes, hammocks, cooking equipment etc. and sinks for hand washing clothes.

In the open-plan barn upstairs with woodburner, we offer a large area with lounge and curtained double bedroom space with a sofa bed. The toilet/shower room is also on this floor. Above is a mezzanine with a double futon. As the barn is built into the hill two patio doors give access to the outside, one from the bedroom, the other from the lounge.

Bedding and towels are supplied.

This is our home so there will be personal things in some of the cupboards and items around the house.

Outside we have two paved terraces with wooden Adirondack armchairs(made by us)around the garden and a double swinging seat.

Guest access: Roam our 7 acres of garden, field and woodland, and beyond.

We have simple pleasures, no telly but a DVD player with films, and Hifi for music. The cottage has no WIFI but the Internet can be accessed outside by mobile phone.

The bookshelves are full of varied reading including Spiritual teachings, Arts and Crafts and gardening.

The kitchen

The kitchen is also the dining and sitting room, see photos.

A belfast sink sits next to a slated drainer near the woodburning cooker and gas cooker.

As we are off grid the only electrical appliances available are a blender, a food processor and juicer.

The kitchen is equipped with cutlery, cooking utensils, crockery, saucepans, frying pans and wok, glasses and large bowls.

Table to seat 4 people.

In warm weather one can cook outside on the stone range near the front door using wood from our forest. Blackened pans and utensils supplied! It's great fun! Outdoor table and chairs with parasol on the terrace.

The ground floor of the barn has two deep sinks for washing up blackened pans. A useful long table and bench. Woodburner.

Other things to note

Please note:- available between April 29th 2017 - September 2nd 2017

As we have solar panels and batteries we have to enter the house daily at your convenience to check the off-grid system. We will be staying in our small caravan nearby during your visit but you will see us around the garden and workshop area and around our land.

We are happy to be of assistance but also respect your privacy as much as you wish.

We are a retired couple who have chosen to live in the peace and tranquility of rural France. We are practical people, enjoying arts and crafts, and have lovingly restored our home from a ruin which we found 10 years ago, developing the house and garden to suit our aspirations. We take a Spiritual approach to life. Here our days are filled with quietness and the beauty of nature and it's wildlife, so it is an easy atmosphere to practise meditation and yoga and increase one's connection to Life and it's Truths of Love, Peace and Compassion. We welcome visitors who are vegans and do not smoke or drink alcohol, as this is how we choose to live ourselves.
