Our Oro Valley home (Northwest Tucson) has beautiful views. Private room and bath. Sleep Number Bed. Kitchen use for vegetarian/vegan prepared meals. Quiet neighborhood with walking/biking paths. Nearby lovely hiking in Catalina State Park. We are LGBT Allies.
Our home has beautiful views both front and back, yet we are not in a remote location. Our neighborhood has plenty of stores and services including a wonderful library minutes away. We love the mountains, open blue sky and twinkly stars at night. Within a 15 minute drive are quality grocery stores: Trader Joes, Sprouts, and Whole Foods. Tohono Chul, a gorgeous desert botanical garden with daily tours, art filled gift shops and art gallery exhibits of local artists is also just 15 minutes away. The Biosphere is about a 25 minute drive and Catalina State Park is just 10 minutes away. We are nearby to El Conquistador Resort if you are attending a business meeting or social event.
For breakfast, please help yourself to coffee/tea and any of the plant-based food we have on hand. We do not cook for you or buy special food, but you are welcome to partake in what we eat ourselves. Although the hosts eat a vegan diet, guests are welcome to prepare their own vegetarian or vegan meals. Please do not bring into our home any non-vegetarian food that may be leftovers from dinner or in your car cooler. Thanks for you cooperation.
We want our guests to feel at home so all public areas of our home are open to you, not just your bedroom. Of course we have wi-fi for you!
No smoking, children or pets. Treat our home with respect and all is cool. If using kitchen, please clean up after yourself. We are very flexible with check-in and check-out times.
Oro Valley is recognized as a gorgeous, safe community with mountain hiking and bike trails, open blue sky, and lots of stars can be seen at night due to the "dark sky" policy of Tucson AZ.
The best way to get around is with a car. However, there are buses you can use to get around in Tucson.

About Your Host
Like many folks in Tucson, Denise and George are in love with the Sonoran desert, beautiful open sky, and sunny weather. Denise is from Oak Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago, and George is a Tucson native. Both of us have had previous long-term marriages with wonderful people and now in our 6th decade of life, we happily find ourselves in a new domestic partnership that is very fulfilling.
Denise’s life has always revolved around her desire to engage in projects that promote social justice. She is an educator and social activist at heart and has been engaged in a variety of venues and social issues throughout her life. In her mid-50s, Denise earned a Ph.D. in Sociology. Since moving to Tucson, she volunteers with several community organizations, works part-time at Tohono Chul, a beautiful desert garden in Oro Valley, teaches and plays an African drum, hikes, and bikes.
George’s life has revolved around the core issues of work and family. He’s had experience with many types of jobs with an emphasis on trucking, construction, and landscaping. As a Tucson native, he has family ties to both horseracing and mariachi music. George loves to pursue outdoor physical activities with Denise and also is learning to play the Djembe, an African drum. He also works now at Tohono Chul, which is where he and Denise met.
Both George and Denise engage in a wonderful Tucson experience called Global Chant and we are both LGBT allies. We also pursue a whole foods, plant-based lifestyle with George doing most of the cooking. We now have a facebook page called, Happy Vegan Couple where we post vegan cooking videos. We invite you to join our group and receive our videos when we post them. We are trying to help people incorporate vegan cooking into their lives.
Denise and George are happy to invite guests to their beautiful home. All visitors are welcome that bring a positive spirit and a caring heart toward all groups of people.
